How Much To Finish A Basement Bathroom – Sure, we started designing the bathroom years ago (like 2), but it fell down the priority list and I was willing to spend a little more on it before we decided to move and sell the house. When the pandemic came, I said: “Let’s do it. Let’s do it cheap and well, and besides, eventually we have to …. sell”. Brian and I find ourselves saying “….for resale” more often than we think (which probably gives us the idea that we’re ready to move). However, this is a demo for the month and it’s time to end this absorption. Here’s the full story in case you missed it.
We need to replace the vanity, put in the floor, paint, and then see what good old-fashioned decor (with the stuff I already have) can do. And hopefully all without spending a lot of money.
How Much To Finish A Basement Bathroom
We installed a new Cali bamboo waterproof floor (like bedroom/office), waterproof baseboard, applied a coat of KILZ Mold and Mildew Primer (good for moisture prone areas), painted the walls with warm denim blue (in Good Jeans Clear Pinta), glass Removed the door, turned off the faucets and replaced the vanity. I think it’s more than I thought, but the bottom line is that no tile was installed, we didn’t touch the vinyl shower surround, but it was white and very good. We did nothing with the built-in cubbies and then decorated everything nicely. And yes, we share the same toilet. It’s okay guys, it’s a basement floor…it’s not worth $400 to us because before we decided to sell it, Brian used that space. That guy doesn’t pay attention to the toilet if you know what I mean.

For anyone wondering, the vanity for the sump pump that you access through the cabinet sits above the engine, however my handyman who installed it didn’t understand that we wanted to cut through the floor. will be done.
It’s amazing how affordable the vanity is ($260 including the countertop). Now, I’ve never personally seen the color or the vanity before it’s completely finished (covid design!)

The great thing about Claire Paint is that they send you large colored stickers that you stick on your wall instead of small ones that you have to paint on (DUH…SO SMART, NICOL!). We make sure to apply a primer coat with a mold and mildew resistant primer film (again, we’re KILZ primer loyalists here), which is especially important in basements, bathrooms, or anywhere with poor circulation. . It’s an easy way to make sure our newly painted walls stay clean and dry in the long run 🙂
Where To Start When Finishing A Basement?
Antique art and a mirror with me and yes, you bet I need to replace an outlet cover with black or bronze – good. Infectious style and Photoshopping. Of course, we left the outlet, but the little lamp on the gentleman’s head was a clip light with a cord, but it still didn’t work, so we photoshopped it because I wanted to add that. Thanks for understanding why I cheat sometimes 🙂 Technically there might be an outlet behind the artwork, so I’ll stick with that story.
Like I said, that mirror charm is with me. The faucet (sink and shower) is cheap and very good for the price.
I bought this vintage towel hook on Etsy and it has everything (Jonathan Adler’s quarter pot, I believe).
Now. All that needs to happen is to paint the baseboard and cubbies blue to keep it more tonal and modern. My guy didn’t get that memo and we showed up the other night to style and shoot. Brian disagreed and said it should be white and I was in no mood to push and I was ready to shoot it.

So I thought it would be fun to show you what it looks like when I paint the whole room in the nice blue jeans color that I love. Again, not a big deal and not worth changing, but I wanted you to know the purpose 🙂 So here you are – a photoshop version of the bathroom as originally intended.
Huh. I think Brian is right, and it would be better with white baseboards – or at least as good. For all the dark floors I like, I noticed that the photos don’t show the bright white toilet or vinyl “tile” surround, so I think the white paint ties everything together.
I wish I listed everything, but I can’t imagine we spent more than $3k on labor. It’s pretty much tied to a basement room and some painting upstairs, and my handyman isn’t one to take that kind of thing apart, so I’m not sure. But the materials were cheap and the job was less than a week, so I think we made it “cute” and cheap and still good. If you can’t see the basement, go here to see how the rooms are connected. xx
