Second, constant washing over time causes soap and fabric softener to build up. This affects the absorbency of the towel, meaning the washing machine cannot do its job of removing odors properly.

Add pieces to a front-loading or top-loading machine. Make sure you don’t overfill it so the pieces can move freely.
Using a measuring cup, add 1 cup of white vinegar to the washing machine. Vinegar, being acidic, breaks down water and mineral deposits in the towel.
Run the washing machine for a cycle in hot water. A combination of hot water and vinegar helps to eliminate the smell of mud. By the time the vinegar gets to work, the water will penetrate the towel enough to remove any impurities.
It is very important to dry your towel properly before folding or reusing it. To do this, hang the towel in the sun or use a dryer to make sure there is no moisture in the towel.

After each use, make sure your towel is hung to dry completely. This could be direct sunlight or a poorly ventilated area of the house.
